TThis insurance policy can be availed by any individual for her/himself, children, spouse and dependent parents. Under this policy, all medically essential reimbursements like injuries or critical illnesses are covered. For general mediclaim policies, each and every individual has separate sum assured and no one can go beyond that. If you are availing family mediclaim policy, you or any member of your family can get reimbursements on the total sum assured. One can choose the policy of sum assured between 1 lakh to 8 lakhs. If the insured is more than 55 years of age, the sum assured could be up to 3 lakhs.

  • War, nuclear weapon, ionizing radiation, act of foreign enemy and so on
  • Experimental treatment
  • External equipments like cochlear implants or contact lenses

  • Any individual within 18-65 years
  • Family including spouse, dependent parents and children betweeen 3 months and 25 years

The upper age limit does not include a mentally challenged child and an unmarried daughter who is dependent on the insured

Anyone aged between 18- 65 years can avail this mediclaim policy. S/he can also avail coverage for her/his family in a single policy.
If I decide not to further with the policy, can I withdraw it?
Yes you can, there is a free look out period for 45 days. Within those 45 days, you can withdraw the entire amount if you decide not to go forward for the policy. If you exceed that period, you need to pay some charges for the withdrawal.

There is a locking period of 30 days after which you can avail mediclaim benefits. However, in case of accidents, you are able to avail the benefits even within 30 days.

It is easy to avail cashless facility. If you have been hospitalized in any of the network hospitals, all the expenses are generally settled by Third Party Administrators on behalf of the insurance providers. However, it is important to have a prior approval from TPA before hospitalization. While hospitalizing, you need to show the hospital authorities the proof of insurance and your ID proof.

All you need to do is fill a claim form and furnish the bills of medical expenses, miscellaneous costs and other necessary documents required and send it to the TPA within 7 days post release from the hospital. You can get entire amount refunded provided it is within the sum assured and complies with the rules and regulations of the hospital.

There is no upper limit for policy renewal. All you need to do is pay the premium before the expiry date of the policy. However, you cannot take a fresh policy after 65 years of age. It is, therefore, important to pay the premium in time so that your policy doesn’t get lapsed.
